What Happened

Polk County Sheriff's Office authorities are investigating a collision that killed two people at SR 60 near Coronet Rd in Mulberry, FL on February 25th, 2020. Officials say the incident happened around 8:21 p.m. A tractor-trailer operated by 54-year-old Francisco Botello-Hernandez reportedly crossed over a white fog line while negotiating a curve and collided with two pedestrians. The pedestrians were identified as Rafael Gandoy, 29, and Armando Melendez, 23, who both were killed in the collision. Botello-Hernandez was not injured and remained at the scene.
