What Happened

A teen was taken to an area hospital following a crash at Genoa Rd in Belvidere, IL on March 8th, 2023. Police say it happened round 8:30 a.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer operated by a 30-year-old male was headed southbound on Genoa Rd, approaching a garbage truck ahead stopped for trash collection. Police say the tractor-trailer crossed a center line while attempting to go around the truck, colliding with a northbound Chrysler 200. The impact pushed both vehicles into an east ditch. The 16-year-old male operating the Chrysler was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. A passenger was also hospitalized for treatment. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured. Additional information was not available.
