What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed a man at I-80 in Scott County, IA on April 28th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. According to investigators, an SUV and semi-truck headed eastbound were involved in a rear-ended collision. Authorities say the semi-truck collided with rear of the SUV, the impact pushing the SUV into a nearby ditch. Authorities say the driver of the SUV, identified as 52-year-old Eric Fraelle, was fatally injured. Two passengers, ages 52 and 16, were hospitalized with serious injuries. Reports say the driver of the semi-truck was uninjured. Additional information was not available.
