What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed two people at State Hwy 194 in Pikeville, KY on January 9th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. According to investigators, a Toyota Rav4 was turning onto Hwy 194 from US 119. Police allege the vehicle crossed over a westbound lane into the path of a dump truck, leading to a collision between the vehicles. The Toyota driver, 70-year-old Tabitha Vanhorn was seriously injured. A passenger, 43-year-old Michael Vanhorn was also seriously injured and both were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Officials say both were later pronounced dead from their injuries. No other information was available.
