What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US 71 and 18th St in Kansas City, MO on August 31st, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. According to investigators, a northbound Chevrolet Tahoe came to a sudden stop ahead of a tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer is said to have veered left to avoid a collision, instead hitting a Dodge Journey. The Journey was pushed into a median before overturning and becoming trapped between the median and semi-truck. The Chevrolet continued northbound after impact into a Nissan Frontier, which also hit a median and overturned. The Dodge driver was hospitalized in critical condition. The Volkswagen driver and semi-truck driver were reportedly unharmed and the Nissan driver was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. Additional information was not available.
