What Happened

North Carolina Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed two people at US 1 in Rockingham, NC on August 29th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. Investigators say a tractor-trailer performed a left turn from a truck stop near US 74, pulling into the path of a northbound Toyota 4Runner. The two vehicles collided, killing 29-year-old Dustin Caulder and 76-year-old Lloyd Johnson. The truck driver was identified as Moletlanyi Oteng. It was not stated if Oteng was injured and charges are currently pending.
