What Happened

North Dakota Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a man at I-94 in Fargo, ND on March 15th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 2 p.m. Officials say a semi-truck was involved in a collision with a second truck under unclear circumstances. Initial investigation suggests that a semi-truck was stopped in a westbound lane due to possible mechanical failure or a previous collision. Police say as another truck approached the wreck, it may have attempted to avoid the vehicle before striking it. A large fire erupted at the scene and one driver involved suffered fatal injuries. The victim was later identified as 72-year-old Randall Buxton. The other driver involved, 52-year-old Yuhai Zhu, was reportedly uninjured. Police later arrested Zhu on a negligent homicide charge.
