What Happened

South Carolina Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at SC 441 in Sumter County, SC on March 15th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7:45 a.m. According to investigators, a Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by 46-year-old Lawrence Gibson collided with the rear of a stopped dump truck. Police did not provided a possible cause for the collision. Authorities say the dump truck had been stopped at the intersection with Louella Lane due to a school bus ahead. It was confirmed that Gibson suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Additional information was not available.
