What Happened

Authorities have information on a crash that left one person dead at I-35 in Kyle, TX on February 2nd, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 11:51 p.m. According to investigators, a Mazda SUV was allegedly traveling at high rate of speed prior to colliding with the rear of a Chevrolet on wet roads. The impact is said to have pushed the Chevrolet down a median, the 45-year-old driver, Abdel Pastor Romero, suffering fatal injuries. The driver of the Mazda, identified as 45-year-old Sonja Marinkovic, was arrested under suspicion of alcohol involvement. Reports indicate a charge of Intoxication Manslaughter has been recommended and/or issued.
