What Happened

Responding officers recommended charges at the scene of a crash at US 77 in Willacy County, TX on December 21st, 2022 that left Amada Gonzalez injured. Police place the accident happening around 10:49 p.m. Investigators say a Hyundai Elantra operated by 35-year-old Llanet Gomez was headed southbound on Business 77 approaching the intersection with FM 490. As a GMC Sierra operated by Gonzalez, age 38, proceeded into the intersection, police say the Hyundai ran a red light and struck the vehicle. Both Gomez and Gonzalez were believed to be seriously injured. Officers recommended that charges of Driving While Intoxication, No Driver License and Disregarding Red Light be issued against Gomez.
