What Happened

Houston Police are investigating a collision that killed a pedestrian at South Gessner Rd in Houston, TX on September 23rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Investigators say a Honda Accord operated by 19-year-old Eddie La was headed southbound prior to veering from the road onto a sidewalk. The vehicle struck a pedestrian, identified as 52-year-old Ana Maria Linares, before continuing forward and striking a Toyota Tacoma stopped at a nearby red light. The collision left Linares with fatal injuries. The condition of the Toyota operator was not revealed. La was arrested at the scene on a charge of Intoxication Manslaughter.
