What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at Tulipan St and East Ave in Brownsville, TX on August 7th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 5:44 a.m. According to investigators, a GMC Sierra operated by 24-year-old Carlos De Hoyos was headed eastbound on East Ave approaching the intersection with Tulipan St. A southbound Dodge Nitro operated by an unnamed 18-year-old female is said to have had a green light at the intersection before entering and being struck by the GMC and a nearby Chrysler. Neither the Dodge or Chrysler drivers were injured. Reports indicate De Hoyos suffered serious injuries and was suspected of possibly being under the influence of alcohol.
