What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a child at McCart Ave and Seminary Dr in Fort Worth, TX on October 7th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 11:01 p.m. According to investigators, a Kia Optima was eastbound on Seminary Dr at the time. Headed southbound on McCart was a Volkswagen Beetle. Stopped at a red light at westbound Seminary was a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Officials allege the Kia ran a red light, continued eastbound and struck the Volkswagen which struck the Jeep. Following the crash, reports say the Kia continued eastbound without stopping to render aid. Authorities say a child involved in the crash suffered fatal injuries while two occupants of the Volkswagen, 60-year-old driver, Maria Melendez Estrada and 23-year-old Stephanie Trevino, had non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the Jeep were uninjured, reports say. Additional information was not immediately available.
