What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured several people at US 259 in Gregg County, TX on October 31st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 8:04 a.m. According to investigators, a Hyundai Elantra was northbound on FM 2751, nearing the US 259 intersection. Headed southeast on US 259 was a Chevrolet Silverado. Officials say the Hyundai traveled onto the wrong side of the road before disregarding a red light and colliding with the Chevrolet in the intersection. Authorities allege the driver of the Hyundai was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Police say both drivers were seriously injured as well as a passenger in the Hyundai. A third Hyundai passenger had minor injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
