What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a person on I-35 at Loop 1604 in San Antonio, TX on November 1st, 2019. Officials say the incident happened around 3 a.m. A vehicle driven by 35-year-old Gavin Mathew Walence reportedly collided with a concrete barrier. Nearby vehicles stopped to assist and one vehicle collided with Walence's causing him to be ejected. He was then struck by several other vehicles, the first of which did not stop. One of the drivers, 57-year-old John Allen Routon, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police later found and arrested the driver, 25-year-old Violeta Martinez, for intoxication manslaughter.
