What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a collision that killed two people at Hwy 85 and FM 468 in Dimmit County, TX on February 18th, 2023. Police say it happened around 12:13 a.m. According to investigators, a Ford F-150 operated by an unnamed 18-year-old Crystal City man was headed westbound on Hwy 85 as a Jeep Cherokee operated by an unnamed 33-year-old Atascosa man allegedly traveled onto the wrong side of the road. Both vehicles collided head-on, causing the Ford to overturn and killing 69-year-old passenger, Jesse Flores. The Atascosa man was also killed in the crash while the Crystal City man had minor injuries. Officers have expressed suspicion of possible alcohol involvement in the crash.
