What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at Hwy 96 near Kirbyville, TX on February 3rd, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 3 p.m. According to investigators, a flatbed truck headed southbound on Hwy 96 is said to have veered right in order to avoid a rear-end collision with a commercial truck. In the process, the flatbed truck went into a nearby ditch and overturned, leaving 28-year-old driver, Kaleb Smith, fatally injured. Authorities had not have any additional information available.
