What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person at FM 855 in Cherokee County, TX on November 3rd, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 3:33 o.m. A Nissan Sentra headed west in an eastbound lane collided with a Chevrolet Express van headed eastbound. The impact forced the Nissan from the road into a barbed wire fence and the driver, 22-year-old Kjyreaone Mayfield, died at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet van, 36-year-old Michael Welch Jr and his passengers, 21-year-old Alexa Hill and 25-year-old Dakota Burkham, were hospitalized with serious injuries.
