What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at State Hwy 22 in Navarro County, TX on August 28th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7:15 p.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Charger operated by 19-year-old Luis Luna was stopped at a stop sign with the intersection at FM 1839 as a tractor-trailer was headed westbound on State Hwy 22. Police allege the Dodge traveled onto the opposite side of the road in an alleged attempt to perform a left turn, pulling into the path of the tractor-trailer. The vehicle ended up traveling into the path of the vehicle and was struck, the impact pushing before vehicles from the roadway. The crash left Luna with fatal injuries. The other driver, who was not publicly identified, had possible injuries. Additional information was not available.
