What Happened

Edinburg Police are investigating a crash that killed three people at South Jackson Rd in Edinburg, TX on July 24th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 9:14 p.m. Officials believe two vehicles collided head-on under unclear circumstances. Initial investigation suggests a truck veering into a lane occupied by a minivan, the two vehicles colliding as a result. The minivan operator, 50-year-old Luz Aurora Casado, died at the scene. Two other passengers, including 68-year-old Ma Casados Zavala and a 1-year-old child, were also killed. A 10-year-old passenger was hospitalized in critical condition. The truck operator, identified as 46-year-old Sheng Li Jiang, was hospitalized with serious injuries and, according to officials, faces potential charges.
