What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a man at Old Avinger Rd near Ore City, TX on October 31st, 2023. Police say the incident happened round 4:43 p.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Versa operated by 76-year-old Lynwood Bowland, Jr was eastbound on Old Avinger Rd at the time. Police allege the vehicle may have lost control while navigating a curve in the roadway, causing the vehicle to veer from the road. From there, police say the vehicle crashed into a tree, leaving Bowland seriously injured. Officials say Bowland was hospitalized for injuries he later died from. Authorities did not have any additional information.
