What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured two drivers at FM 1695 in Hewitt, TX on August 20th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 5:59 a.m. According to investigators, a Toyota C-HR operated by 30-year-old Marcos Cordero Perez was headed southbound on FM 1695 in a lane near a shoulder. Traveling northbound in a Mazda 3 operated by 19-year-old Nathan Beck, which authorities alleged traveled into oncoming traffic lanes for unconfirmed reasons. The Toyota collided with the front driver side of the Mazda as a result, leaving Beck with suspected serious injuries and injuries considered less serious, according to police. While the Mazda was stopped in an inside lane after the collision, it was struck by another vehicle operated by Connie Horn. Officials say Horn also suffered injuries considered to be non-life-threatening. Additional information was not immediately available.
