What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a teen at 41st St and Ave O in Galveston, TX on September 2nd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 6 p.m. According to investigators, a Toyota SUV traveling westbound on Ave O was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to colliding with a Jeep headed northbound on 41st Street. Officers add the Toyota, operated by 28-year-old Keith Brazier, previously missed several traffic lights prior to the collision in which it also ran another red light. 14-year-old Mason Nelson was killed in the collision while three other passengers and the adult driver  of the Jeep were hospitalized. It was confirmed that one of those victims, identified as 14-year-old Sam Mixon, died two weeks later after remaining in critical condition while in the hospital. Police arrested Brazier on charge of murder and officers say it is expected that an additional count will be added.
