What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a person at Hwy 69E in Willacy County, TX on August 28th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. A Ford F-150 behind a Chevrolet Malibu collided with the Malibu when the Ford driver reportedly became distracted and collided with the Malibu before fleeing the scene. Right after, a Nissan Versa collided with the disabled Chevrolet. The driver of the Nissan, 69-year-old Nelda de la Rosa, was hospitalized with injuries the she later died from. The driver of the Ford was later found and identified as 34-year-old Oscar Moreno. He was arrested in charges including Failure to Stop and Render Aid and Criminal Negligent Homicide.
