Three semi-trucks and passenger vehicle were involved in a chain reaction crash


What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have information on a multi-vehicle crash at I-20 in Smith County, TX on April 26th, 2023. They say it happened around 2 p.m. and involved three semi-trucks and a passenger vehicle. The vehicles are said to have been headed westbound when one of the trucks collided with the rear of a second truck. This created a chain reaction collision between an additional semi-truck and the passenger vehicle. The driver of the truck that police believe first struck the others, identified as 50-year-old Otabek T. Mamadaliev, suffered fatal injuries. A second truck driver, identified as 54-year-old Randy J. Rankins, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Also hospitalized was the driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as 56-year-old Beth Knox. The other driver involved was not injured. Additional information was not been made available.
