What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are ivnevtsiating a crash that killed three people at US 287 near Childress, TX on June 1st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 10 a.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer allegedly failed to control its seed, colliding with the rear of another vehicle. This created a chain reaction crash that involved a Ford Escape, Subaru Ascent and second commercial truck. The driver of the Ford, identified as 54-year-old Patrick Scrivener, died at the scene. The driver of the Subaru, 68-year-old Bradley Nevil and his 61-year-old passenger, Sheri Nevil, also both died at the scene. The driver of the the first truck, identified as 47-year-old Vicente Barcenas, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Additional information was not available.
