Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a person at I-35 in Temple, TX on August 14th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 1:46 a.m. According to investigators, a Kia Optima operated by 50-year-old Steven Craig Mayes was struck in the rear by a commercial truck after allegedly coming to a stop in a lane of travel. Officers believe the Kia stopped in a lane of a travel due to another vehicle crash in the shoulder instead of pulling into the shoulder. The impact left Mayes with serious injuries while the truck driver was not injured. Additional information was not immediately available.
