What Happened

Area authorities are investigating an incident that killed one person at US 75 in Sherman, TX on November 22nd, 2023. Police are saying it happened around 12:50 p.m. According to investigators, 18-year-old Zachry Sutherland was at the scene performing mechanical work on a disabled commercial truck at the time. Reports allege Sutherland finished the repair work and informed the driver. The driver, who was not publicly identified, is said to have entered into the truck and released the clutch. This action, reports say, caused the truck to begin moving forward as Sutherland allegedly returned to the truck to retrieve a tool. Reports say Sutherland was between tires when the truck moved forward, striking Sutherland and causing injuries that were fatal. Authorities did not have any additional information available.
