What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a collision that injured a pedestrian at Tyler St in Amarillo, TX on January 4th, 2023. Officials say it happened around 6:52 p.m. According to investigators, a Ford Mustang operated by an unnamed 49-year-old Amarillo man was headed northbound on Tyler at the time. The vehicle collided with a vehicle that was legally parked as its driver was exiting the vehicle. The driver, identified as 56-year-old Zita Maldonado, was struck in the collision, suffering injuries believed to be serious. Following the collision, the Amarillo man is said to have fled the scene on foot and faces a Failure to Stop and Render Aid charge.
