What Happened

Wyoming Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed two people at US 14 in Crook County, WY on July 31st, 2023. Police say the incident happened as a motorhome operated by 84-year-old Helmut Kanoldt was headed eastbound. Police say the vehicle was attempting to perform a u-turn to travel westbound before allegedly pulling into the path of a motorcycle operated by 69-year-old Jean Marie Godard. The vehicles collided, despite an attempt being made by the motorcycle to avoid a collision, leaving Godard with fatal injuries at the scene. Also killed was Godard's wife and passenger, 75-year-old Chantal Bouvet Godard. Police say Kanoldt and his wife were not hospitalized and did not have additional information to share.
