What Happened

State Police are investigating a multi-vehicle accident that left a child dead at I-55 in West Memphis, AR on August 26th, 2022. They say it happened around 7:51 p.m. According to their initial investigation, a Jeep occupied by 77-year-old Margaret Taylor and an unidentified minor, reportedly attempted a lane change to avoid a tractor-trailer. The truck reportedly swerved to avoid colliding with vehicles before it struck the Jeep, pushing it into the rear of two other vehicles. The minor in Taylor's vehicle suffered fatal injuries while Taylor suffered undisclosed injuries. The condition of the driver of their vehicle or any other drivers was not revealed.
