What Happened

Arkansas State Police are investigating a crash that killed a person at State Hwy 38 in Hughes, AR on October 17th, 2021. Police say it happened around 2:50 p.m. A tractor-trailer operated by 55-year-old Robert Austill was headed west on Hwy 38 when it went across an eastbound lane while taking a curve in the road. This caused the truck to veer from the road and strike a concrete structure before overturning into a ditch. A passenger in the vehicle, 69-year-old Sharon Like, suffered fatal injuries. Austill suffered undisclosed injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
