What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that injured two people at Hwy 299 in Trinity County, CA on September 11th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 6:50 a.m. According to investigators, a log truck was headed westbound on Hwy 299, allegedly at an unsafe speed, before it lost control and overturned into an eastbound lane. Reports say logs from the truck blocked a lane of travel and forced an approaching Hyundai Sonata to veer right in order to avoid a collision. In the process, sources say logs struck the vehicle and the impact caused the vehicle to leave the roadway, traveling several feet down an embankment. Officials say the driver of the Hyundai, Jolene Eye and her passenger, Carmen Busbee, were both hospitalized with serious injuries. Additional information was not available.
