What Happened

California Highway Patrol officials are investigating a collision that killed a man at I-5 in Fresno County, CA on June 6th, 2023. Police say it happened around 11 p.m. Investigators say a 74-year-old Myrtle Point man was working to repair a disabled vehicle at the time. They state his vehicle was in a shoulder lane but allege he was standing partially in a lane of travel at the time. While working, police say a Peterbilt truck struck the man under unclear circumstances, leaving him with fatal injuries. At this time, police say they do not suspect impairment played a factor in the incident and had no additional information to share.
