What Happened

California Highway Patrol officials have identified the person killed in a collision at I-15 in Lake Elsinore, CA on January 29th, 2022. They say it happened around 9:15 p.m. when a passenger sedan operated by 29-year-old Rafael Marchan collided with a tractor-trailer. Investigators say the tractor-trailer was pulled into a right shoulder as the driver was checking on a possible mechanical issued when Marchan's Honda veered into the shoulder and struck the rear of the truck. Marchan died at the scene. The other driver was not injured. Additional information was not available.
