What Happened

Colorado State Police are investigating a crash that killed two people at State Route 12 in Las Animas County, CO on February 1st, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 10 a.m. Investigators say a Nissan Frontier operated by an unidentified 60-year-0ld woman was attempting to make u-turn onto State Route 12 when it was struck by an eastbound dump truck. The Nissan driver died at the scene and her passenger was taken to an area hospital with injuries she later died from. The truck driver was not injured.
