Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed two people at I-695 and 11th St in Washington, DC on March 8th, 2022. Police say the incident happened when a dump truck and passenger car collided under unclear circumstances. Initial investigation suggests that a BMW headed eastbound on 695 was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to colliding with the parked dump truck. After that, the vehicle veered across multiple traffic lanes and struck a Toyota MRW and jersey barrier. The vehicle caught fire and two people, one later identified as 32-year-old passenger, Steven Roy, suffered fatal injuries. One person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
