What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed at least two people involved at I-15 in Bannock County, ID on August 9th, 2023. Police have stated the crash happened around 2 p.m. According to investigators, a southbound dump truck was approaching stopped traffic when it collided with three other vehicles. One one of the vehicles were 23-year-old Jaren Goering and 26-year-old passenger, Monique Morales. Officials say both were hospitalized with injuries they later died from. A third occupant from their vehicle, a 20-year-old Ammon woman who was not publicly identified, was also hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. The occupants of the other vehicles were not hospitalized, however, it was not made clear if any were injured. Police did say the 67-year-old Idaho Falls man operating the dump truck was hospitalized. A cause for the collision was not shared and police did not provide additional information.
