What Happened

Cook County Sheriff's Office authorities are investigating a crash that injured a woman at West Roosevelt Rd in Cook County, IL on September 14th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 2:14 a.m. According to investigators, a tow truck is said to have reversed into an SUV under unclear circumstances. The impact is said to have caused the SUV to struck another vehicle, causing it to lose control and collide with a wall. Reports say 21-year-old Giselle Chavez was taken to an area hospital with injuries she later died from. Authorities say a 20year-old and 18-year-old involved were both also hospitalized with serious injuries. The tow truck is alleged to have fled the scene.
