What Happened

Illinois State Police are investigating a collision that injured two drivers at  I-70 in Cumberland County, IL on February 23rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 4:20 a.m. Investigators say a semi-truck headed eastbound veered left and over-corrected before overturning. While overturned, the truck was struck by an oncoming truck and both drivers, identified as 51-year-old Milton Higgs and 68-year-old Floyd Emerson, suffered serious injured. Police say Higgs was cited for improper lane usage.
