State Police are investigating a collision that killed a person at I-55 in Bolingbrook, IL on June 23rd, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 3:23 a.m. Investigators say a passenger vehicle exited onto a shoulder for unknown reasons, the occupants exiting the vehicle. After exiting, police say they were standing near a lane of travel when they were struck by an approaching semi-truck. Following the collision, the semi-truck left the scene. The driver of the passenger vehicle died at the scene. The passenger was hospitalized with suspected serious injuries. At this time, additional information is not available.
