What Happened

Kansas Highway Patrol officials are investigating a collision that led to a fatality at  US Hwy 36 in Elwood, KS on January 11th, 2022. Police say the incident was reported around 8:35 a.m. A Honda Accord is said to have collided with the rear of a semi-truck that was moving a low rate of speed. The driver of the Honda, identified as 59-year-old Ramond Sauter, suffered fatal injuries in the collision. The driver of the semi-truck, 57-year-old Robert Varnum and his passenger 41-year-old Christopher McDonald, were both uninjured.
