What Happened

Kansas Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a man at I-70 in Ellsworth County, KS on November 9th, 2021. Police say the incident involved a 1986 Mercury Cougar operated by 46-year-old Scott Compitello veering from the road into a semi-truck parked in the shoulder of the interstate. Compitello suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck and his passenger were not injured. Investigators say Compitello was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
