What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that killed a man at Route 165 in Jarresttsville, MD on July 27th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 12:43 p.m. Police say a BMW was involved in a. collision with a Public Works dump truck near an active work zone. Details about the cause of the collision were unclear. Officials say the driver of the BMW, identified as  78-year-old John Derwart, suffers fatal injuries in the crash. A passenger in the vehicle, 81-year-old Joan Bridge, was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. There were no other reported injuries and police did not share any additional information.
