What Happened

State Police released the names of the two people killed in a crash at US-2 in Garden Twp, MI on January 27th, 2023. Officials say it happened around 3:55 p.m. and named 47-year-old Gerald Weaver and 46-year-old Tara Weaver, as the victims. Investigators say both victims occupied a Toyota SUV headed eastbound on US 2 at the time. They add that a westbound semi-truck lost control and crossed into the path of the Toyota, the two colliding as a result. Both victims died at the scene. The semi-truck driver was not injured. Shortly after this crash, a Chevrolet SUV struck the truck and that driver, a 54-year-old Oshkosh, WI man suffered broken bones. Additional details were not provided.
