Mississippi Highway Patrol officials have confirmed the death of a child in a collision at Hwy 49 in Simpson County, MS on April 5th, 2022. Police say the incident happened just before 9 p.m. They say a tractor-trailer going south on US 49 collided with a bicyclist in the right travel lane near New Hope Road. The bicyclist was confirmed to be 12-year-old Anthony Wilder III, who suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Police had no additional details to share regarding the cause of the accident.
