State Police are investigating a crash that killed a teen at I-55 in Copiah County, MS on July 1st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 4:30 a.m. According to investigators, a Ford box truck was involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer under unclear circumstances. The impact is said the have thrown an occupant of the Ford from the vehicle before they were struck by a Chevrolet Impala. The driver of the Ford, identified as 47-year-old Dannie Gatewood, was taken to an area hospital with injuries considered to be non-life-threatening.
