What Happened

Missouri State Police are investigating a crash that killed a driver at Hwy 71 and 224th at Nodaway County, MO on July 30th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 8:45 a.m. A pickup truck headed southbound attempted to avoid colliding with a stopped dump truck at an intersection. The truck then skidded from the road and the driver, 68-year-old David Wayne Cruth, suffered fatal injuries. A passenger, 43-year-old Neil Hacker, was hospitalized with serious injuries. 22-year-0ld dump truck driver, Kelton Emery, was treated for minor injuries.
