What Happened

Montana Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed three men at I-90 in Billings, MT on November 1st, 2021. They say the incident happened when an SUV reportedly turned counter-clockwise on the interstate until it was perpendicular with the road, partially exposed to oncoming traffic. An approaching semi-truck was not apple to stop in time and collided with the SUV, pushing both vehicles from the road into a cable barrier. The three occupants of the SUV, ages 38, 40 and 44, died at the scene. Police say the men were checking on an abandoned vehicle on the side of the road to either work on or remove from the scene at the time of the collision. Additional information was not available.
