What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a person at US Route 93 in Elko County, NV on September 27th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 7:40 a.m. A Penske moving truck was headed northbound when it approached a flagger in a construction zone. The truck did not stop and collided with a Chrysler Pacifica operated by 70-year-old Darryl Mayhew. The impact pushed the van into a dump truck and the Penske truck overturned and a Ford F-150 was struck by a tractor-trailer which struck the rear of the van. Mayhew suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Additional information was not immediately available.
